My main interest is hand embroidery; I enjoy working on dyed fabrics, making my own stencils and applique and particularly like working with hand-dyed Perle thread.
I am relatively new to creative textile work, so am constantly learning and experimenting. I have always "stitched" in a practical way - making clothes, curtains etc. But in 2008, while taking months to recover from a badly broken foot and ankle, I was encouraged by a friend to try hand embroidery.
I belong to the local branch of the Embroiderers' Guild, where I am Membership Secretary, and have exhibited work as a member of Spectrum Textile Group at Textiles in Focus and Art VanGo.
My working life was mainly as a Senior Secretary / PA but as a mature student I took time off to study horticulture and garden design. For 13 years I ran my own Garden Design business with projects ranging from a manor house walled garden to Victorian terraced to sensory garden for special needs children.
Not surprisingly, most of my work includes plants or flowers!
