As a fibre artist I am naturally immersed in texture. I like to consider the integrity of the materials I am using; and through process, experimentation and intuition to press them further than where I started.
Every piece is an experiment of sorts....starting with an idea, an inspiration, and then the process moves in and takes over. The textural qualities of fibre can take you in so many directions...it is important to me to have a theme or a motive in mind.
Most of these involve the natural world- our impact on it, and our interdependence; the need for respect of our natural worlds and a resulting reassessment of humankind.
My aim is to work with sensitivity and intuition for both materials and subject matter...Finding the place where the two meet and developing this.
