20th October 2018 - A Coastal Perspective

Speaker: Alice Fox

Alice Fox is a renowned multi-media artist and will present her perspective on coastal lanscapes based on her practice, followed by a workshop 'Paper and Stitch' Books and works will be for sale.

The event will be held at the Boxmoor Trust Centre, London Road, Hemel Hempstead, Herts, HP1 2RE, from 10am-4pm. www.boxmoortrust.org.uk

Guest Speaker: Michele Carragher -The Embroidered Narrative

Michele Carragher is a highly creative costume hand-embroiderer who has been working in costume for film and television productions for over 20 years. Michele will give a 60-minute talk, and bring along a collection of her work that displays her style and techniques. Her work was used in Elizabeth I, which starred Dame Helen Mirren and Game of Thrones, which she still creates for.

Guest Speaker: Cas Holmes

Cas is a very well-know artist in painting, drwaing and textiles with a training in fine arts. She uses may recycled materials and makes exciting mixed-media artworks. She describes her process as 'Stitch-painting' and 'Painting with clotyh. Her new book is published soon entitled Lanscape: Painting With Cloth. She will also be running a workshop.

CURRENT EXHIBITION

Saffron Walden Museum Exhibition:

6th October 2018 - 3rd February 2019 - Essex -

This is a site-specific exhibition for our members. The work will be displayed for four months.

Saffron Walden Museum is one of the oldest in Britain, founded in 1835. It has an unusually rich and varied collection of natural history, ancient Egypt, North American, archaeology, local history, ceramics, glass, wood and textiles from around the globe (over 170,000 objects).

St Albans Museum and Gallery:

7th September to 3rd November 2019 - 'The Making of a Market Town'

There will be a presentation for members on 24th January 2019 by museum and gallery curator Sarah Keeling based on the theme of our new exhibition for September 2019. Sarah will have objects for discussion and sketching and you will be able to start to formulate ideas for your submissions. There is a further presentation for members of 12th February 2019 at Braintree museum by Clare Willets based on this exhibition theme 'The Making of a Market Town'. Clare will show participants photos and exhibits and host a walk around the original market site.
